Avocados are a low-carb fruit that is considered a superfood and is packed with healthy fats and lots of nutrients.
Avocados have high levels of vitamin K, folate, vitamin C, potassium, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, and vitamin E, according to Authority Nutrition. Avocados also have magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, zinc, phosphorous, vitamin A, B1, B2, and B3.
They are also absolutely delicious. So delicious that there’s even a restaurant that only makes avocado dishes.
People are seriously obsessed with avocados as you can make delicious guacamole, avocado toast, avocado smoothies, avocado salads and much more.
Some people are a little too obsessed, but it’s hard to blame them. Avocados are amazing.
We have only one complaint about avocados… their shelf life stinks.
Often you’ll find that your avocado is too hard to eat. It seems like there is only the shortest time span before it turns brown and goes bad. And don’t even think of putting the other half of an unused avocado in the refrigerator.
It will be brown and inedible when you take it out the next day, which is so annoying.
Avocados can be pretty pricey which makes this extra frustrating. Thankfully some genius individuals found a way to prevent your avocados from turning so quickly.
Here’s how to extend the shelf life of your avocados:
First off, you’ll want to select a proper avocado. You can find out how to pick the perfect avocado here. Now that you have the perfect avocado, you’ll want to make it last.
All you have to do is cut a red onion into large chunks and place the pieces into an airtight plastic container. Put your avocado half inside of it with the pit on top and the skin of the avocado touching the onion chunks. Place the lid on your container and put in in the refrigerator.
